The National Databank provides free data to those in need through the Good Things Foundation’s network of community partners, in partnership with Virgin Media/O2 and Vodafone. Barnet Libraries are a partner in this national scheme.

Eligible individuals may receive either: 

  • A Vodaphone SIM card with 40GB data, unlimited calls and texts per month for 6 months
  • An O2/Virgin Media SIM card with 25GB data, unlimited calls and texts per month for up to 12 months

The type of SIM you receive is subject to availability.

Someone receiving data through the National Databank must be:

  • 18 years old or over
  • From a low-income household
  • Have not already received a SIM card with free data, calls and texts in the last 6 months

And qualify in at least one of the following statements:

  • Has no access or insufficient access to the internet at home
  • Has no or insufficient access to the internet when away from home
  • Cannot afford their existing monthly contract or mobile top-up

Please note the following conditions:

  • Strictly one SIM per person
  • SIM cards will only be gifted to the eligible person who attends the session and will not be given out for friends or family members
  • Once you receive your free SIM card, you will not qualify to receive another until the current period of free data, calls and texts expires
