If you're a foster carer with another agency and considering a switch, think about joining Barnet fostering.
We make the transfer process easy and stress free with our fast track assessment, ensuring a smooth transition for you and your family.
You’re free to move between fostering agencies, whether or not you have a child or young person in your care. We follow the Fostering Network’s Transfer Protocols, prioritising the safety and stability of children and young people throughout the process.
Why Barnet?
- we give priority to Barnet’s in house foster carers when a Barnet child needs a local home
- we work in partnership with local schools, health, voluntary and council services on a regular basis offering the best all round support for you
- we offer excellent support package which includes your own allocated social worker
- we offer you competitive fees, allowances, great benefits, and rewards
- we offer a comprehensive training programme which is a mixture of eLearning and face to face
The transfer process
- contact us to express your interest in transferring
- you’ll need to inform your current agency or local authority that you plan to move, (this is often referred to as a ’Letter of Intention’) and complete our application form. Please note, you can't submit the application form unless you've uploaded a copy of this letter
- once your application is received, you will be introduced to your social worker
- a supervising social worker will write a report to be presented to the fostering panel, along with your most recent annual review report
- you will be advised on when to submit your ‘Resignation Letter’ to your current agency or local authority giving them formal written notice that you are resigning
- a chief officer, known as the Agency Decision Maker (ADM) in children's social care, will make the final decision on your transfer
