Thank you to everyone who donated to the Live Unlimited Give A Dongle campaign - we are very grateful.
Live Unlimited, the charity set up by Barnet Council two years ago, experienced overwhelming support for its Give A Dongle campaign.
The fundraiser was launched last month to buy broadband dongles for extremely isolated care leavers in the borough, living alone through lockdown without access to the internet as they’re without home WiFi.
Live Unlimited’s campaign has raised nearly £8,000 to date, smashing its £4,000 target within two weeks. So far the charity has been able to buy over 60 bits of kit including dongles, tablets and sims for vulnerable young people – including a tablet for Brenda pictured with her young son Hakeem, so she can continue her course which has moved online.
“I am really grateful for the Tablet and Internet Sim,” says Adi Ahmed, 19, one of the recipients. “Now I can contact my friends, check Facebook and look for new courses during this COVID-19 lockdown. Thank you all.”
Live Unlimited continues to help some of the borough’s most vulnerable young people, children in care and young care leavers, get through lockdown in other ways, too, by providing including home gym kit, art materials, musical instruments and bikes.
