The Government has announced that Barnet and the rest of London will be placed into tier 2 restrictions when the current month-long period of lockdown comes to an end on Wednesday 2 December, subject to Parliament’s approval on Tuesday 1 December.

We have worked really hard together to keep the level of infection rates down locally. As we emerge from lockdown it is important to remain vigilant and alert to the fact that the virus is still around.
From 2 December, non-essential shops can reopen, we can once again exercise in leisure facilities, attend communal services in places of worship, and meet friends and family outdoors in groups of six. Of course, doing so requires us to follow government guidance on staying COVID-19-safe – wear a face covering in designated places, keep your distance from people outside of your household, and wash your hands regularly.
As the rate of infection remains high in Barnet and the rest of London, we each have to take responsibility to stay safe and protect those most vulnerable. The ultimate aim is to save lives and keep infection rates down to avoid further restrictions in the New Year.
Together, we will get through this.
