Election results
There was a UK Parliamentary General Election on 4 July 2024.
Electors in Barnet will vote within one of 4 parliamentary constituencies. They are:
- Chipping Barnet constituency
- Wards: Barnet Vale, Brunswick Park, East Barnet, Edgwarebury, High Barnet, Totteridge and Woodside, Underhill, Whetstone
- Finchley and Golders Green constituency
- Wards:Childs Hill, Cricklewood, East Finchley, Finchley Church End, Garden Suburb, Golders Green, West Finchley, Woodhouse
- Hendon constituency
- Wards: Burnt Oak, Colindale North, Colindale South, Edgware, Hendon, Mill Hill, West Hendon
- Hornsey and Friern Barnet constituency
- Wards: Friern Barnet (and wards from London Borough of Haringey)
Each constituency elects one member of parliament to represent them.

Important dates for voters
- register to vote, Tuesday 18 June 2024 by midnight
- apply for a postal vote, Wednesday 19 June 2024 by 5pm (you must be registered to vote before you can receive a postal vote)
- the deadline to make any amendments to current postal or proxy arrangements is Wednesday 19 June 2024 by 5pm
- apply for a proxy vote, Wednesday 26 June 2024 by 5pm
Who can vote
To vote in the UK Parliamentary General Election you must:
- be registered to vote
- be 18 or over on the day of the election (‘polling day’)
- be a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen
- be resident at an address in the UK or living abroad and registered as an overseas voter
- not be legally excluded from voting

Ways to vote
Voting in person on polling day
You can vote at the polling station on Thursday 4 July. You must provide photo Voter ID to vote in a polling station .
Get information on your polling station and how to vote at a polling station, including:
- the ballot paper(s)
- opening and closing times for polling stations
- photographic voter ID required to vote at a polling station
- assistance and disability support available to residents at a polling station
Voting by post
The deadline to apply to vote by post is Wednesday 19 June by 5pm.
The deadline to amend, or cancel, an existing absent vote is also Wednesday 19 June by 5pm.
Please ensure you post your postal vote in sufficient time so that it can be delivered by Royal Mail by 10pm on polling day
We must receive your completed postal vote pack by 10pm on polling day.

Apply for someone to vote on your behalf (proxy voting)
You must be registered to vote before you can apply to vote by proxy.
The deadline to apply to vote by proxy is Wednesday 26 June by 5pm.
The deadline to amend, or cancel, an existing absent vote is Wednesday 19 June by 5pm.
