Develop your skills
BOOST, the Council’s Employment Support Agency, offers a range of free online learning and digital training opportunities to help Barnet residents overcome barriers around digital skills through the Make it Click Programme.
We also work with Personal Improvement LTD - BCS Accredited I.T Courses. https://www.pi-ltd.co.uk/
There are a range of online free learning modules and courses designed to help those of all abilities and confidence to improve their digital skills, including the Google Applied Digital Skills hub. The broadband operators investing in Barnet will also provide several skills development opportunities, including apprenticeship and graduate schemes, alongside Digital Skills support and learning tools. Learn more about the Digital Skills support and learning tools offered by Community Fibre.
Build your confidence through community support
To encourage ongoing support and training services, we will be looking to deliver high speed broadband provision in a number of Community Centres across the borough.
These centres will provide a point of high-speed quality internet access for all residents, and become hubs supporting skills training and digital engagement activities led by a new cohort of digital ambassadors within each community.
See the community connect webpages for information about the Community Fibre digital skills and confidence building support services.
Access to online services
Once schemes are up and running in Barnet, further details will be made available on these pages.
In the interim, residents requiring support with access to online services can contact
librariesonlinehelp@barnet.gov.uk who are available to assist residents with any IT queries, such as basic computer skills, digital accessibility, and accessing council and library resources.
You can call the team on 020 8359 4913 or email librariesonlinehelp@barnet.gov.uk and they will respond with support within 72 hours.
Installation problems
While we have worked hard to ensure that operators and any subcontractors have a track record of delivering high quality services and a clear plan to minimise disturbance to residents and businesses, we recognise that issues do occur on occasion.
In the event of any installation problems arising, in the first instance, please contact Community Fibre directly by email or telephone on 0800 082 0770.
Should you be dissatisfied with the response you are receiving then you can email Fibre.Broadband@barnet.gov.uk
Other queries
If you have any further queries about the Gigabit Broadband Programme, you can email Fibre.Broadband@barnet.gov.uk and a member of our team will respond shortly.
