Report pavement damage
You can report cracked or uneven kerbs and pavements, damage to verges, manhole covers and street furniture.

How we repair kerbs and pavements
Once we have received a report of damaged kerbs or pavements, we will visit the area to assess the problem.
A decision will be made on what action will be taken, based on the:
- extent of damage
- location
- potential danger to the public
- depth of the issue which must be 25mm or more
We will let you know the outcome of our assessment within 10 working days.
It is not possible to repair every issue requested. Priority is given to those that present most risk to residents.
How to report damage caused by building works
We have a dedicated team that monitor and assess construction and building works in Barnet.
Where these works cause damage to the pavement, the law allows us to recover the full cost of repair from the property owner.
Under no circumstances should repairs be made by residents or their builders. Only our approved contractors can carry out works on the pavement and roads.
How property owners can pay for repairs
Our team will make contact with property owners to invoicing and arrange payment. Any queries can be emailed to: highwayscorrespondence@barnet.gov.uk.
How to report manhole covers
Manhole covers are the responsibility of the relevant utility company. Missing, damaged or loose manhole covers need to be reported directly to them:
If an issue with a manhole cover is reported to us, we will let the relevant utility company know and instruct them to repair it.
How to report damage caused by tree roots
Our Tree Roots policy has been developed to enhance pavement safety and improve accessibility while maintaining the quality of the street scene environment.
How to report overhanging trees and hedges
Once an overhanging issue is reported, we will visit the area to assess the problem.
If the tree or hedge is overhanging the pavement or road and causing an obstruction or blocking a line of sight, then we make sure the person or people responsible clear it.
