Skip to:
If your child was born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014, you will need to apply for their transfer to secondary school in September in 2025.
Secondary National Offer Day - 3 March 2025
If you applied on time you will receive your offer letter by email, during the evening of 3 March 2025.
Accepting or declining school place offers
Select the reply button on the bottom of the email and log into your eAdmissions account to accept or decline your offer. The deadline to accept your offer is Monday 17 March 2025.
If we are unable to offer you a place at any of the schools you selected on your application, we aim to offer you a place at the nearest school with a vacancy.
Your child will stay on the waiting lists for the schools you listed as higher preferences on your application form than the school you have been offered.
You have the right to appeal against the decision not to offer your child a place. Find out more about appeals

Your address
You must use your child's main address at the time of application.
Do not use the address of a relative or someone who provides temporary care for your child, a business address or a childminder's address.
A temporary address will normally not be accepted if you still own a property that was previously used as a home address.
Providing false information to secure a school place is a criminal act. Please check our secondary admissions guide (PDF 4.8MB) for more information about how we determine your home address.
School preferences
When selecting your school preferences, please remember to:
-
select up to six schools - you can include schools within and outside the borough of Barnet;
-
list the schools in the order you prefer them;
-
check the admissions criteria for each school in the secondary admissions guide;
- weigh up you chances of an offer from your preferred school.
Making changes to your school preferences
If you wish to change your school preferences after submitting your application, please complete a Change of preference form.
If you live outside Barnet, contact your local authority for their policy on making changes to school preferences.
Supporting information
As part of your in-year application you will need to provide specific information. Please upload the evidence to the eAdmissions online portal when you make your application.
Child's date of birth
Please provide a copy of your child's short birth certificate or a copy of their passport photo page.
Proof of address
Put your council tax number on the application form and upload a copy of one of the following:
- a copy of a gas or electricity bill dated within the last 3 months;
- your most recent Rent/Mortgage statement or Tenancy Agreement;
- a recent letter / statement from the Department for Work and Pensions;
- a recent letter / statement from HM Revenues and Customs.
If you don’t have a council tax number you must upload two documents from the proof of address list.
Faith, foundation and academy school applications
Faith schools, as well as some foundation schools and academies, will ask you to complete a supplementary information form (SIF) or Certificate of Religious Practice (CRP).
These can be downloaded from school websites and should be returned to the school you are applying to.
Exceptional social or medical claims
Most Barnet secondary schools do not give priority on exceptional medical or social grounds. If you select a school that gives you the option to claim exceptional medical or social priority and you wish to be considered under one of these criteria, you will need to demonstrate a specific connection between your child's needs and the school. You will be asked to provide a written statement from a doctor, social worker or other independent qualified professional.
Children looked after and previously looked after
You will have to provide evidence of the child's looked after status. This is normally a letter from the social worker.
For previously looked after children, you must provide one of the documents listed below, as well as a document or letter confirming your child was previously in care:
- child arrangements order;
- special guardianship order;
- proof of adoption.
