Vocal score sets

For a small fee, any music or choral society or group that meets in Barnet, or other London boroughs, can borrow from a large collection of vocal score sets. 

Your group will need to be registered to use this service. To register, please contact Edgware Library or call 020 8359 2626.

Search for the score you want in Scores for loan (PDF 417 KB) or the library catalogue. Then email setsandscoresclub@barnet.gov.uk with the following information:

• the name of your group and library card number
• the composer and title (including edition) that you want
• the number of copies you would like
• when you want the items and how long you want to borrow them for

We will let you know if we can supply the items you have asked for and tell you when they are available for collection. All scores are collected from and returned to Edgware library during our opening times.

We can only supply scores already held by Barnet Libraries.

Charges that apply to choirs based in Barnet:

• loan charge per score per month (minimum 2 month loan) 25p per score
• late return fee 25p per score per month or part month
• cancellation fee £10 per order
• replacement fee for lost items £10 plus cost of replacement

Charges that apply to choirs based outside Barnet:

• loan charge per score per month (minimum 2 month loan) 35p per score
• late return fee 35p per score per month or part month
• cancellation fee £10 per order
• replacement fee for lost items £12 plus cost of replacement

Playsets

Any drama or play-reading group that meets in the borough of Barnet can borrow from approximately 1,200 playsets. Your group will need to be registered and there is a yearly subscription charge of £30. There are no additional costs, but charges will be made for lost or damaged copies.

To register your group, contact Finchley Church End library  or call 020 8359 3800. We will need your name, address, email, and phone number.

Two additional group members can be nominated to collect the copies.

You can search for titles on the online library catalogue. Enter playset into the search box and a list of titles will appear.

The ‘details’ section of the catalogue record will give you an indication of the cast members.

When you have made your selection send an email to us with:

• the chosen title or titles (you can borrow up to 6 titles at a time)
• the name of your group and the library card number.

We will email you to let you know when the books are ready to collect. Playsets can be collected and returned to any Barnet library.

Sets are issued for 6 weeks. There is no need to bring your library card with you as Playsets will be pre-loaned to you ready for collection.

The Playsets are available to browse at Finchley Church End library.
