Who installs your broadband
We will work with any Ofcom registered broadband operator who can to invest in the installation of gigabit broadband infrastructure across the borough.
Ofcom registered operators can contact us for more information.
Our guidelines
Operators must meet these principles:
- delivering to as much of the borough as possible
- ensuring delivery of networks at pace
- widening opportunities to provide additional social value for residents
- minimising disturbance to residents and businesses
Disruption during the installation process
Operators have made a commitment that any necessary disruption relating to the installation of gigabit broadband will be kept to an absolute minimum.
The council is only working with Ofcom-registered broadband operators in developing the programme, and in signing up the operators have confirmed that any necessary disruption will be kept minimal by being a ‘considerate partner [that] meets expected standards throughout the rollout process’. This includes all elements of planning, resident engagement, and installation.
What to expect
The expected disruption whilst rolling out new broadband networks is likely to be:
- digging up the highway/footway to install new cables (where possible operators will use existing ducts)
- a small amount of disturbance where cables will be attached to the exterior of the building or being installed internally within the blocks
