Volunteering in Barnet
Over 6500 people across the borough volunteer each year to help others. Barnet’s charitable organisations provide vital services to our residents, thanks to the people giving up their time, skills, and knowledge for the benefit of our community.
Volunteering benefits individuals, organisations and society. It boosts people’s wellbeing, confidence and employability, while enabling organisations to deliver vital services, and strengthening community cohesion. It is a key tool in addressing inequalities and tackling the challenges facing people and communities.
We are committed to celebrating volunteers and making it easier for more people to get involved. Even if you don't see yourself as a volunteer, it's the little things you do that count. Dropping in on an elderly neighbour for a chat, or coaching a local sports team makes such a big difference in your community.
How to get involved?
Volunteering Barnet has been the borough’s National Council for Voluntary Organisations’ (NCVO) accredited volunteer centre since 2015, providing the overarching volunteering support for groups and volunteers.
Whether you’re new to volunteering or a veteran, Volunteering Barnet is here to help. From finding you a role, helping with applications, giving interview advice, arranging regular support sessions and 1 to 1 communication; Volunteering Barnet supports every step of your volunteering journey.
